An angel shrine creates a special place in your home that facilitates instant resonance with your guardian angel. I discovered this rather accidentally.

I had spent a lovely day in the Yorkshire Moors, England, visiting the Abbey Fountains. Although the abbey is in ruins, the place is spiritually charged. I mentioned this to my friend and he told me that I was in for an even more pleasant surprise tomorrow.  In the evening we had dinner at my friend's cousin Sarah's house.

As soon as I entered her house I felt a certain energy all around me. It was an amazing feeling that unexpectedly enveloped you, both comforting and spiritual.

I scanned the room to see where that energy was coming from. When Sarah came out to prepare dinner, I got up and walked around. The energy seemed to emanate from a small table against the wall, next to an old clock. It was definitely something spiritual, but there didn't seem to be anything special about the table. It was made of mahogany and was obviously very old. There were a few photographs on it, including one of my friend.

My host had returned to the room and was now looking at me smiling waiting for me to say something.

"This table," I said. "There's something spiritual about it . I felt it as soon as I entered the house. What is it?"

"I'm glad you realized it. It's what sustains me. It's my angel shrine."

Over dinner she told me about her shrine.

"It all started as a place to call my angel. It wasn't an actual shrine. I just wanted a place in the house where I could feel closer to my guardian angel, and also a place for him. It turned out better than I expected."

Sarah first put a Bible on the table, thinking that would give it a more spiritual charge.

"But it didn't. Everything changed when I put some personal things very dear to me on the table. After 1-2 weeks, I changed them to see what was going on. I put crystals and then photos of people very dear to me. Only then I felt an immediate and powerful transformation. My shrine transformed the whole house. From a state of sadness that prevailed in the house, the whole atmosphere was filled with happiness and brightness. The house seems to have turned from a permanent winter into a perpetual summer.

Do you pray at this altar?" I asked.

"Sometimes, I guess. I actually tend to pray all the time in some way. I'm always carrying on an inner conversation, so I could say I pray all the time."

"With God?"

"Yes. I may not see Him the way you do, but I have a definite idea of Him in my mind."

"How do you make contact with the angel in front of the altar?"

"Simple. He comes whenever I call him. But I always feel so close to her (Sarah refers to the guardian angel as female) by the altar. I sit in that chair and I start talking to the angel and he replies.

"What else do you do with the altar?"

"Everything that goes in or out of the house lands for a minute on the altar. Even the food. Even the wine we had tonight. I believe by placing them on the altar they become blessed. If I have a gift for someone, I always place it on the altar after I've wrapped it. It gives the gift strength and energy. I do the same with what I receive."

"What's the role of photos?"

Sarah shrugs. "I don't know, they're photos of people I love. I find that they are very special to my angel."

"I also place any book on the altar before I start reading it. I feel it revitalizes it. Does that seem strange to you?"

"No, as soon as I get home, I'm going to make a shrine."

You can realize this shrine as a special place in your home. Your guardian angel will guide you in choosing this place. This place can also be outside your home - for example in the garden, at the root of a tree.

Experiment with different objects and see which create more energy. You can put up photos or cherished things from your childhood. You can also place fresh flowers on this altar more often.

Don't just use this place to store things. Treat it with respect.

It can be used for spiritual development, healing, to spread love, compassion and understanding. You can transmit its healing energy to any being you wish to help.

You can also use the shrine to convey your forgiveness to those who have caused you pain or wronged you. By accepting others as they are, your life will become easier and happier.

By using this special place on a regular basis, your relationship with your guardian angel and angelic guardian will become very close.
